Parks and Recreation Bulletin Board
Registration is now underway for the Girls Softball program. The program consists of four leagues from Kindergarten through 7th Grade. The Rogliatti's League is a developmental league for girls in grades K-1 (no begindergarten or pre-school children); the Rookie League is for girls in grades 2 and 3 and teaches fundamental and skill development; the Minor League program is for girls in grades 4 and 5 and serves as an entry level program for fastpitch softball; the Major League is a competitive fastpitch league for girls in grades 6 and 7. Click here to register online. Registration forms are available at area schools or at the City Building. Registration deadline is Friday, March 5.
An informational meeting for the LadyCats Traveling Softball program will be held on Wednesday, March 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the Napoleon High School cafeteria. Any girls interested in playing on a traveling team is strongly encouraged to attend. Coaches and commissioners will be on hand to provide information on the upcoming season and to answer any questions about the program.
The City of Napoleon Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce that LaRae Meyer and Chad Richardson have been chosen by the Parks and Recreation Board as the recipients of the 2009 Parks and Recreation Service Award. This award is given annually to individuals or groups that demonstrate outstanding volunteer service to the Parks and Recreation program in Napoleon. LaRae Meyer is being honored for her many years of service with the Girls Softball program. LaRae has served as its commissioner for the past five years and has committed countless hours to ensure the success of the program. Prior to being commissioner, LaRae was a volunteer coach in the program for several years. LaRae is also actively involved in the LadyCat Softball program and is currently serving on the Recreation Levy Committee. Chad Richardson is being honored for his years of service in a wide variety of recreation programs in Napoleon. Chad has volunteered as a head coach in baseball, softball, soccer and basketball in both the boys and girls programs often times coaching two teams in one season. Most recently, Chad has been instrumental in the development of the 3rd and 4th grade Flag Football program and has served as commissioner since its inception. Chad and LaRae will be accepting their awards at the Napoleon Boys Basketball game on Friday, February 26.
The Napoleon Golf Course clubhouse is closed for the season. Play on the course will only be allowed as weather permits. Please obey all posted signs.
The Fitness Alliance in cooperation with the Parks and Recreation Department has announced its Group Strength, Zumba, and Yoga program. Click here for the entire March Fitness Program schedule.
The Parks and Recreation in conjunction with the United Karate System and its instructor Randy Hann is currently offering Karate Classes. Sessions are held on Tuesday and Sundays at West Elementary School. Please visit karatebyhann for more information on classes held in Napoleon.
A new private boat dock storage policy has been implemented by the City of Napoleon. Docks placed at the west end of the facility will subject to various removal dates based on the zone in which they are stored. Click here to see a diagram of the storage zones.
