PRESS RELEASE

On Friday June 1, 2001 at 12:00 noon the City of Napoleon will test the Tornado warning sirens.  The 1st Friday of each month at 12:00 noon will be the test schedule.  Testing allows the City to maintain the Sirens in good working condition.

The Storm Sirens are used for the early warning of severe weather that directly impacts the citizens of the City of Napoleon.  When activated the sirens alert the public to take shelter immediately and tune into the local advisory station for further information.  These sirens will run on a sustained solid tone for a period of 3-5 minutes and then shut down.  Monitoring of the local advisory station will inform residents of the City of Napoleon as to the type of severe weather that is affecting the City.

When you hear the Storm Siren Warning:

DO             Seek shelter from the Storm.  Listen to a local advisory station for information.  This warning is to allow for the public to seek shelter from the storm.

DO NOT    Call the Fire Department, Police Department or 911 to ask questions about the sirens.  The emergency personnel are already very busy and need to take care of current emergencies.

If there are any questions, please contact the Napoleon Fire Department at 592-0441
